Introduction
The collections housed at Drammens museum cover all aspects of cultural heritage in Norway. The collection in excess of 50,000 objects including paintings, furniture, glass, ceramics and other objects from around the world. Of the museums collection approximately only approximately 5% is on display at any one time. It is possible to view an object not normally on public display. This can be done only on prior arrangement with the museum and only after the successful completion of a research application/registration form.
Application procedure
Members of the public who are interested in viewing specific objects from the museums collection are asked to use the following procedure. A research application form is available is available online or direct from the museum.
- An inquiry concerning a particular object will normally be answered within 15 working days.
- Any request to view objects from the collection will only be considered after the completion of a research application form. The museum will confirm all appointments with the utmost speed. Any special requirements should be stated at this stage.
- A successful enquirer will be given an appointment to view objects within 30 working days.
- An enquirer with an appointment will be able to view any associated information/ written documentation that is not confidential.
- Viewing appointments must be made far in advance if specific dates are required.
- No photography will be allowed with out prior arrangement with the museum.
Photographic Resources
The Museums maintains a large collection of photographic reproductions of many of its objects. Copies of these can be purchased directly from the museum. It must however be pointed out that no photographic reproduction will be issued by the museum without the completion of a contract.
- All photographic inquireries of this nature should be made in writing.
- Digital copies are also available on request of certain archive material, contact with the museum is required.
- All photographic inquireries will normally be answered within 15 working days.
- Reproduction photographs will be issued normally within 15 working days of the receipt of order validation.
